If you’re born an omega, you don’t get to stay with your pack. Instead, you’re sent to the Omega Auctions, a place where wolves are traded between packs. Those bidding at the auction might be looking for help on their farms, companions for their family members, or even something else entirely...
For Stephen, he has known since he was a pup that he’d end up in the Omega Auctions and he’s always seen it as his chance to escape from the pack that has rejected him and start a new life elsewhere. So long as he can find a way to bring his only remaining family member with him Stephen doesn’t much care where he ends up...at least that was what he always thought...but on the day of the auction Stephen is bid on by a strange wolf from a distant pack. That wolf wants Stephen for one thing and one thing only...to breed him.
Stephen is faced with a hard choice. Either to accept his new status as a breeding wolf and keep his family together, or fight against it, and lose not just his family and his new pack, but any hope he ever had of a new life.
A little more than two years have passed since Clint purchased his Omega, Trevor, at the auction (Soul Mate for Sale). Can there really be a happy ever after for two shifters who found each other there? "Do you still love me?""I..I think so," Trevor "I..I think so," Trevor said slowly, dropping his face to his hands. "I mean, whatever this has been, it has remained steady."
"Whatever this has been?" I repeated, my stomach clenching. "You used to say you love me. Now you don't know if you ever did?"
I desperately wanted Trevor to correct me, to say that he had misspoken. To assure me that he loved me. That wasn't what happened. Instead, he tried to swallow a little sob and looked up, his beautiful blue eyes awash with tears and his bottom lip trembling.
"I see." A million more questions ran through my mind, but I forced them – and my confused wolf - back. "Can you tell me more? How long have you felt this way?" I swallowed hard. "Do..you want the claim reversed?"
"I don't know." He was choking on his sobs, and I had to fight every Alpha instinct to keep from touching him, comforting him. There was nothing I could do to stop the pheromones that my body released at his distress, though. "Things were so bad until you bought me and it's better here." He winced at the word. "But that's it, isn't it? You didn't choose me. You bought me because I was convenient, because I was different." He dashed the tears from his eyes. "Do you really think you would love me if we had met the normal way?"
"I know I would," I insisted immediately even though I already knew that this was an argument I couldn't win. "There was an amazing number of Omegas in that place. You know that. You were the only one I responded to. You're meant to be mine."
Trevor attempted a smile, but it was a weak imitation of his usual warm grin. "That's pheromones, sex." He shook his head sadly. "That's not love."
I could have argued that point, but I could tell that he had more he didn't want to say. "And?"
"I feel like I'm being forced into a role I didn't study for," my mate whispered haltingly. "I don't feel like I belong here anymore."

Things had changed so much over the last few centuries, and Gress wasn’t sure he liked it, or the pressure. Not that he’d want to go back to the days alphas ruled the packs, and omegas were nothing more than breeding stock. But what Joti, his omega co-leader wanted to do, Gress was adamantly against.
No self-respecting omega wanted to go to the Alpha Auction, and purchase a mate. It didn’t matter the auction was entirely voluntary, unlike the old days when omegas were sold off against their will to be bred, and subjugated. How could a worthy alpha stoop so low as to be studded out in such a humiliating manner? Even if they were outnumbered 3-to-1 by omegas, and that was the reason they were no longer the height of the hierarchy among the packs?
It didn’t matter the omega council was pressuring him, and Joti to find a mate, there had to be another way. Except, there wasn’t, and Gress knew it. Every pack ruled by a duel-omega leadership was expected to have an alpha mate, only one alpha mate. It was against council law to have more than one, the risk of the alphas trying to control the pack too great. The one alpha was there to bond with both omegas, and to produce the next generation, hopefully conceiving more alphas to swell the dwindling numbers.
Despite Gress’s objections, they had to attend, but would they find a mate compatible to them both? An alpha willing to have two mates he was expected to bond with, and breed, and submit to their control? Gress wasn’t sure such an alpha existed.
Jaeger couldn’t believe his brother had talked him into signing up for the Alpha Auction. So, he wasn’t getting any younger, but to belittle himself to find a mate? It was embarrassing, not to mention expensive. The Alpha Auction wasn’t run like a normal one. Sure, omegas bid on the alpha they were interested in, but that alpha had to come with a dowry. Jaeger’s entire savings was now tied to whether he would be bid on. If the bid exceeded his dowry, he was entitled to keep the money, but how often did that happen?
Jaeger had been searching for a mate—secretly, his destined mate—for more than ten years, but had been unsuccessful. Why he, and his brother, thought he would find his mate at the auction didn’t make sense, but it was too late now. The auction took place in two weeks, and Jaeger had already signed the papers, and given his dowry to the auction officials. If this didn’t pan out, he wasn’t sure what he’d do. And what happened if the winning bid—if he was bid on at all—was an omega he couldn’t stand, or tried to dominate him, and break his alpha pride, and instincts? He was pretty sure his brother hadn’t thought of that, when he practically forced Jaeger to sign up.
It wasn’t as if Jaeger was looking for an omega to submit to him. Alphas had changed over the years, their instincts honed to care for, and protect their mates even more than in the past. They no longer carried the need to dictate, and rule their mates, a trait evolved into extinction. Yes, they were still bigger, stronger, and faster than omegas, but those qualities were used to protect, not lead. Not anymore. Jaeger had no desire to run a pack. He only wanted a mate, hopefully a destined mate, he could love, who desired him, and only him, and maybe have a pup, or two. Was that too much to ask? Would that be too much to expect from the Alpha Auction?

The deep bass of bells pealed soundly through the early evening air as the ancient brass bellpull bobbed gently back into place.
“Good evening, Mistress,” Dragos greeted me warmly, swinging the door open wide to allow me entrance. “The Masters are out at present but assuredly will be pleased that you have arrived.”
“Thank you, Dragos.” I allowed him to help me from my heavy woolen coat, shivering when the cold Alaskan air that had followed me in brushed against the bare skin of my neck. “I am pleased to have been invited.”
Dragos allowed his formal mask to slip long enough to smile roguishly. “I am confident that I would not be overstepping to assure you that you are always welcome at Blackwell Castle, Mistress Rhodes.”
I laughed and swatted his arm. “You old flatterer! Now, tell me everything I’ve missed?”
Dragos tsk’d softly, still smiling. “No, Mistress.” He held his elbow out for me to take. “Tonight, that honor falls to another.”
“It does?” I raised a brow, but the butler simply led me on, stopping in front of a familiar being that I hadn’t seen in many years.
“Your Highness!” I quickly dropped as deep a curtsy as my cold, tired bones would allow. “I wasn’t aware that you were still on continent!”
“Silly child, you know you’re to call me Bunic.” One bushy silver-tipped red eyebrow arched. “I stayed on after the bonding to enjoy the holiday with my great-grandsons.” The King of Dragons said, smiling at me genially. “It is good to see you, Kian. Come and greet me properly.”
I rose to my feet and leaned over the two small dragonlets sleeping in his lap to kiss his weathered cheek. “I see you have company.”
“I certainly do.” His large hand ghosted over the purple scales of the two sleeping infants, one a slightly lighter shade than the other. “It has been many years since I’ve held such small ones.”
“They certainly seem content.” I lowered myself into the chair opposite him. “Dragos said that you would tell me of the castle news?”
“Ah, did he, now?” Bunic’s lined face relaxed into a delighted grin. “It has been an entertaining few days, of that you can be sure.”
Bunic leaned back and closed his eyes, his hand stilling on the dragonlet’s backs. “It all started a fortnight after Harry and Spencer were bonded…”

It’s annoying that he has to touch them now, when he definitely can’t look l when he definitely can’t look like he’s crying. “She needs medicine and a better home. She has for a long time now, and I wish I’d done this sooner honestly. But also…”
Back to baby machine. Back to logic and making sense and not feeling anything. Whatever’s swirling in his chest can’t dare come out.
“I want to give her a grandchild. A pretty one,” he admits with a shrug. “You know, blue hair and all.”
He glances quickly to Zachri’s hair, which is beautiful and amazing. But also, the alpha’s eyes are intent and he’s sitting forward in his chair again. That makes it harder to speak, so Rourke keeps admiring the baseboards.
“He’s for me too.” Rourke purposely avoids using ‘it’. “I’m not just doing it for my mother.” Anymore. Apparently. “But it’s really important that we don’t wait a year. She doesn’t have that long, and I’d like her to see her grandchild as soon as possible. So she can be happy, you know?”
Zachri doesn’t answer his you know, and Rourke can’t take the silence much longer. He can’t bring himself to look at the other man. Since he hasn’t said anything, Rourke must have given him an insufficient answer.
He mumbles, “I have this image of my future. Me and an alpha. Uh, you, I guess. And our baby. And she’s there to visit us, holding him for the first time. We’re all happy.”
